*Dessert* Smoothie House (思慕昔) – Super Hot Selling Yong Kang No.15
Being voted as one of the 40 Must Try Food in Taipei by CNN, Smoothie House (思慕昔) is considered as a Taiwan Dessert Leading Brand where you can expect heaps of advertisement regarding it from magazines, travel leaflets, television and even on MRT wall.
As one of the victims of advertising propaganda (as always) we decided to give it a try during our visit to Taiwan! 😉
*Due to its well-known status nowadays, it is near to impossible to get a proper seat during the peak hour, so it is wise to be there early otherwise.
We ordered “The Super Mango Snowflake Ice with Sorbet” NT$220 from the cotton snow series which serves with shaved ice, fresh mango cube and mango ice cream on top.
Smoothie House (思慕昔) runs the “Ticket Ordering System” which means you still have to wait (for your dessert) after payment with a ticket number provided until your number is being called.
Our turn has finally reach and its time for the moment of truth – Shaved ice was smooth but tastes bland unless you mix with the mango flavoured cordial/syrup (artificial taste), mango was sweet but overripe and have a slight rotten smell on it. Although the portion was big which can be shared at least with two people, with due respect it is just not our cup of tea.
If you had eaten “Hanbing” in Malaysia or any Korean Shaved Ice before then sorry to say this dessert might be an overrated product (when comparing from shave ice smoothness, ingredient generosity, and taste consistency) plus not to mention the “Price” that you had to pay due to its popular brand.
*We personally do not recommend this dessert at all but if you want to consider it from a different aspect such as “once in a lifetime experience” due to its fame then it should be fine.
