Hong Kong Canton Style Steamboat @ Harbour Restaurant
Harbour Steamboat Restaurant is specialised in Hong Kong Style Steamboat which uses pork big bone as broth base and sells only fresh catch of the day (no set meal only ala carte order).
The restaurant always packed with diners at the peak hour along with a paper long waiting list especially during the weekend, it is wise for you to visit early or make an appointment if you would like to dine in.
Steamboat Soup Selection
Harbour Steamboat Restaurant offers a variety of Hong Kong & Macau based soup broth which uses pork bone as the base ingredient.
We ordered Macam Pork Bone Soup (澳门猪骨汤) RM11.00 and Sugar Cane Soup (清热竹蔗汤) RM8.00 which considers the most popular soup base for steamboat.
For those who are looking for premium broth, the “Teochew” Fish Bone Soup (潮州鱼骨汤) RM31.80 and Tomato Potato Fish Bone Soup (番茄薯鱼骨汤) RM31.80 is a must try that need to make a reservation beforehand.
The Harbour Steamboat Restaurant serves three major types of sauces during the steamboat session:
Sweet & Sour Chilli Sauce – Common types of sauce which can be fully savoured with most of the food
Dried Chilli Sauce – Aromatic dried chilli which doesn’t feel spicy at all, taste like the dried chilli version from pan mee
Fu Ru (fermented bean curd) – Most weird sauce to have but extremely popular among all due to its unique and irresistible flavour
If none of the above suits your palate, you may request soy sauce and green chilli dippings from the waiters (cross fingers that they have it). 😉
Harbour Steamboat Ingredient
Harbour Steamboat Restaurant ingredient mainly consists of meat (most are pork and pork innards), seafood, meatballs, vegetables and noodles.
Once your order is fully prepared, a tray of food will be present and park next to your table (more spacious and easier for you to manage).
Remember to run a double check on the food once arrived to prevent missing order throughout the steamboat session.
Beef Smooth Slice (新鲜滑牛片) RM7.00 – Very smooth and fresh tasty beef slice, recommended dish.
Tiger Prawn (新鲜生虾) RM15.00 – Each set comes with 6 pcs and deem to be very fresh, helps a lot in soup flavouring for sure another recommended dish.
Pork Kidney (鲜猪腰片) RM5.00 – Fresh but taste very gamy (no seasoning at all), depending on individual taste bud but personally likes it a lot.
Mushroom Pork Ball (冬菇猪肉丸) RM6.00 – Freshly handmade meatball which has a strong flavour of mushroom and pork, a must try dish.
For those who enjoy eating other pork parts, Pork Skin (猪皮) RM5.00 and Pork Loin (猪肚) RM5.00 are also Harbour Steamboat specialities dishes.
It would be such a waste if you didn’t manage to finish the soup broth by the end of the meal (while soup is so enriched with so many fresh ingredients flavours).
Recommend to order a plate of dry noodle before the end of steamboat session (also treats like a meal filler) and savour the yummy soup with it.
Overall steamboat experience in Harbour Restaurant was good (ingredients are very fresh and broth tastes awesome), recommend for those families with an older age group of people to try.
The only down part is the service is VERY BAD (waiter not pro-active on taking orders, always take wrong order with those “overseas worker”) not to mention that you need to pay for the 10% service charges after all those lousy services you are having! 🙁
