Most Popular Cantonese Delights – Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert (香港盛记甜品)
Hong Kong Sheng Kee Introduction
Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert (香港盛记甜品) started off in Singapore as a successful chain restaurant which specializes in authentic Hong Kong style cuisines.
This restaurant has been our new favorite restaurant, that also serves as a substitute for Kim Gary, due to its great ambiance, delicious, cheap and affordable daily lunch/dinner set! 😉
*Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert also serves a wide range of beverage and dessert, without a doubt, is a great hangout place with friends and families.
Signature Pork Belly Rice
If you are big fans on pork belly, be sure having Sheng Kee’s braised pork rice (梅菜扣肉饭) RM16.90 featuring steam rice topped with braised pork belly slices and Muy Choi (preserved cabbage).
The braised sliced pork is succulent juicy while combined with a fragrant aroma of Muy Choi, tastes even more delicious if mixing them all together before starts digging in.
*Sheng Kee rice menu also includes; braised chicken drumstick rice, gold-dusted chicken cutlet rice, steamed chicken and mushroom rice, black pepper beef rice and many more.
Hong Kong Style Congee
Don’t feel like having rice or noodle? Preserved egg and pork ball congee (沙煲皮蛋肉丸淡淡粥) RM10.90 might be the best bet in the menu.
This Cantonese style congee has a rich and silky texture, a generous amount of main ingredients, and most importantly, great combination of spices (especially sesame oil) which enhances the overall flavor and made congee no longer tastes boring. 😉
*Other delectable Sheng Kee Congee including; supreme assorted seafood congee, fish slices congee and simple chicken congee.
Spare Rib with Black Beans
For those who can’t settle down without an additional side dish like us, we ordered an HK spare rib with black beans (港式鼓汁排骨) RM7.90 among the variety dim sum section.
The spare rib pork is juicy tender, less salty and enriches with black beans flavor, the portion is rather small but good enough to satiate our personal cravings. 😉
*Sheng Kee Dim Sum best seller includes; prawn dumpling, char siew snowy bun, HK carrot cake, prawn cheong fun, deep fried shrimp dumpling and many more.
Mango Pomelo Grass Jelly
Hong Kong Sheng Kee is actually made famous with their delectable mouth-watering desserts, thus, be sure not to leave without having any of the dessert specialties! 😉
We ordered a set of Mango Pomelo Grass Jelly (杨枝仙草) RM8.90 serves with mango cubes, grass jelly, and tapioca soaked on mango-pomelo shaved ice syrup.
Overall tastes toothsome and refreshing, gives a mild icy chilling sensation and some chew-chew session on each slurp, not too overly sweet which is suitable for any age group.
*Other than cold desserts, Sheng Kee’s hot desserts series such as rice ball in ginger soup and peanut paste soup is also a popular choice which definitely worth a try.
*Kindly note that menu availability and price might vary from time to time
