*Must Try Breakfast* Bao Jiang Gua Bao (爆浆刮包) – Taiwanese Style Hamburger Brekkies
Wake up early in the morning and have no clue what to have for breakfast in Taipei? Apart from the Famous Soybean Breakfast, we also highly recommend trying at least one of these Gua Bao (刮包) from a street stall.
These Gua Bao Stalls usually starts operates from early 8.00 am until mid-afternoon at 12.00 pm, continues while stock lasts, so be sure to be there early if you would like to enjoy one of these delicious goodies! 😉
Gua Bao (刮包) also known as the “Taiwanese Hamburger” for local is actually consists of a Mantou-like bun filled with generous meat stuffing that you prefer to have – Teriyaki Chicken, Tuna, Kimchi, Braised Meat, or Ham & Bacon.
The stall we used to visit are located in the back alley of Zhongxiao Dunhua Station (忠孝敦化), the boss lady is a very nice person, always brimming with a great smile on the face, and also she is friendly enough to let you pick your own stuffings, which is considered a good courtesy if you don’t feel like having the “super fatty” part in your Gua Bao! 😉
* In our humble opinion, it doesn’t really matter which Gua Bao stall you going to visit since most of them are serving the same taste and equally delicious!
Based on our own experience, the best Gua Bao (刮包) are none other than the Garlic Braised Meat flavours (蒜味肉片) plus an add-on of basil leaves fried egg (九成塔煎蛋) which costs around NT$450.
Feel free to upgrade into a proper breakfast set (NT$700 in total) comes with any choices of medium-sized beverage – Sour Plum Juice, Hot Tea or Milk Tea.
*Half fat and half meat (半肥瘦) is the best meat slice option since it has a less rough texture and rather juicy while munching it! 😉
