*Must Try* All Time Favourite Nasi Lemak @ Madam Kwan
Since 1977, Madam Kwan has always focussed on bringing Malaysian cuisine to everyone who would like to enjoy hawker or wok style treats in the comfort of a cafe-style restaurant.
As per today, Madam Kwan is a successful chain restaurant with the comfort of a modern cafe ambience which serves a tantalizing uniquely created Malaysian Cuisine.
Our memory with Madam Kwan always best described as “Silat” because generally we always fight over some particular food which is placed on other people’s plate.
Madam’s Starter Platter
Madam’s Starters for Two RM29.90 is a set platters serves with four type of local delicacies; Deep Fried Chicken Wing, Deep Fried Dumpling, Chicken Satay and Otak-Otak (Steamed Fish Paste).
Not sure why this is a three pcs per category (food) instead four for a “Two Person Starters”, we actually struggle quite a hard time to determine a fair loot between us (silat sparring ongoing in between the meal)! 😉
Satay Chicken deem very succulent and tastes heavenly especially after dipping with Satay Peanut Sauce. Unlike other satays, Madam Kwan’s version is a way bigger portion without barely any chicken fatties in between the skewer.
Good news especially for those who are actually on diet and wanted to have some healthy meat skewer!
Otak-Otak (steamed fish paste) is known to have spicy, soft and mellow texture.
As for Madam Kwan’s Otak-otak version, big chunks of fish can be clearly seen around the Otak-otak fish paste to ensure that you can have a little bit more of the fish consistency while chewing on it.
Deep fry dumpling with golden crisp skin (can’t stop making the crunchy noise on each bite) and a good amount of pork shrimp fillings inside taste more flavourful with the sweet and sour chilli condiments.
Perfect deep fried chicken wing served fresh without any greasy taste on it while having an irresistible spice fragrant which is indeed finger licking good!
Generally speaking, the starter dish is toothsome while each delicacies having their own characteristics and unique taste which is worth a try.
Madam Kwan’s Nasi Lemak
Nasi Lemak RM21.90 is the all-time favourite dish in Madam Kwan’s featuring Aromatic Coconut Steam Rice served with Chicken Curry, Sambal Ikan Bilis (Sweet & Spicy Anchovies Paste), Dried Shrimp Floss, Hard Boiled Egg, Acar and Fresh Cucumber (Indian salad).
Just mix anything with the Nasi Lemak and chow down, everything will soothe and creates a harmony rhythm inside your mouth during the “chew-chew session”.
If you used to had Madam Kwan Nasi Lemak before, your long lost memory will recall and manage to tells; this is from the nostalgic Madam Kwan’s which tastes unique and delicious just like the old days!
Madam Kwan’s Nasi Bojari
Nasi Bojari RM29.90 is another signature rice dish which serves with Madam Kwan’s Tri-Coloured Rice with Assam Prawns, Beef Rendang and Chicken Fried Drumstick.
We used to call this a kid’s meal back in the days (less spicy compared to nasi lemak) and often order this dish over nasi lemak due to the variable amount of ingredient on the plate.
After having a mouthful fight with rice, Assam prawn and beef rendang (tastes scrumptious and cleans everything before you even knows) you will surely leave the whole chicken drumstick unscathed at the corner of a plate (which we always did and the main “silat” event).
That golden moment between “you and a whole fried chicken drumstick” (by pinching using both fingers) is definitely what you can expect from Madam Kwan’s Nasi Bojari! 😉
Banana Fritters & Ice Cream Dessert
Our long hour “silat” food session ends with a “chill” and delightful dessert “Banana Fritters with Ice Cream” RM15.90
This dessert has a right amount of sweetness in it and gives an irresistible hot & cold sensation on each bite.
Tastes exactly like having “Pisang Goreng” and Vanilla Ice Cream at the same time!
